What's been in the shower .....

Busy busy busy… that’s the only word I have been uttering. No its not a complain.

Busy is good.

Our dearest SOUL bars have been flying off the shelves like freshly baked cupcakes!!

Weee.. and that makes me sooo happy. That many many people are now more concerned about the products they use on their skin and realize the goodness of homemade natural products. It’s really such a treat!

I have received lotsa feedback and I dare say that it’s all good!

Our Peppermint soaps have been sold out! Gasp! When I made them for the first time I wasn’t sure about how receptive other soapaholics would be… since I know some just detest mint. But wow how I was pleasantly surprised!

Just the day before someone bought 35 bars from me!!

This gal is a holistic healer and was keen to incorporate my SOUL bars with her healing.

That’s something. The benefits of the essential oils in our bars are really….. endless!

Whats simmering under now…. I’m working on coming up with two simple but pretty gift baskets for a real popular local makeup guru to give away for her youtube contest. I’m real excited. Sometimes I wish I could allocate more time to come up with beautiful things but other responsibilities beckon.

It’s alright. I shall be superwoman once again. hehe.

Today I’m giving the gym a pass to work on the gift baskets and I promise pictures tomorrow.

I’m already thinking of X’mas goodies… yummy!

Yes... we're still here... :)

It’s been pretty quiet here hasn’t it?

That’s cos I have been tied up with my full-time job.. sigh.

I wish I could just make soaps and sell soaps for a living.. hehe.

I will.. soon enough. Then I will be able to cater to the large orders and customization for the requests I receive.

That will make me a happy camper!

Hopefully this week I find more time to pretty up more of SOUL’s bars for all you soap addicts to ogle at!

Of course it’s not all good news. We’ve had a customer not receive her package. Sob sob.

Thanks to our postal service. Well that’s the risk we take with normal mail. That it may be lost in the mailbox maze.

I urge customers to opt for registered mail. I don’t earn anything from that. You just need to top up $2 and are guaranteed of your package since you can track it.

Wayyy better. Both me and you will be at ease heh.

Dear Mr Postman

Brown envelopes , bubble wrap, stamps, ribbons, scotch tape.. yippee... yes! I have been sending out bars and bars of soap. Somehow that makes me happy! That so many lovely people are so excited to try my soap… and I always tell them that they have to wait till they smell the bars to completely fall in love. Hehe.

So far the most favourite bars are Peppermint, Cocktail Fruity and there is a tie between avocado and lemongrass.

I’m just left with my last few bars of Peppermint soap and I know it’s gonna be whipped up in no time.

I think Dad’s been secretly eyeing my soap cos he came into my room and tried to subtly tell me that he was done with his soap. Haha. So I brought him a few to choose from. And he chose Jasmine. I think he was more captivated by the Jasmine flowers that were embedded in the soap. I didn’t give him Peppermint to choose from cos I wanted to save it for my soapaholics… yes YOU!

This weekend I am gonna have a mini photoshoot for the other 5 yummydoos soaps that are waiting patiently for all the soapaholics to conquer their showertimes. Yay! Can’t wait.

It’s a rainy wet Wednesday here… don’t let the weather dampen your spirits.. have a hot cuppa and enjoy the raindrops!

Ribbons Galore!

I’m so extremely glad that so many people love my soaps!

It is an amazing feeling!

I feel immense satisfaction when lovely people who purchase the bars return with such positive feedback and even order more immediately.

Super awesomeness.

I have been trying out new and different packaging ideas. Some work some don’t.

I like the whole simplistic look to the bars… just to maintain the natural beauty of the soap bars itself.

They look so good on their own hehe. Today I wrapped up.. or rather prettied up 2 bars for Shirley, my colleague.

She wanted to buy fruity scents so I recommended the Cocktail Fruity bar and the Melon to her.

She’s gonna love it. Instead of overdoing the wrapping, I tied nice purple and gold ribbons and they look gorgeous!!

I think I’m gonna buy more ribbons! Wrapping the soaps make me happy!

Next month I’m gonna release another five scents for everyone to lather up with.

Who says boys don’t pay attention to soaps and such? I have personally known some dudes to have more toiletries in their bathroom than I do!

Last night I was introduced to a guy who had some sort of urrmmm soap fetish. Haha. He was an extreme soap enthusiast too and I felt like I found my male equivalent. He apparently has a ‘tower’ of soap in his bathroom.. all opened, out of their wrappers… different fragrances cos he just likes using soap so much and just need to have a wide range of em. Soapsession! Sweet!

I was so impressed that he knew about all the harmful ingredients that were part of the commercial soap makeup but had no choice as these were the soaps that were so easily available and cheap on top of that. He was so pleasantly surprised when he knew that I was a soap maker!

Too often we stick to commercial soaps cos that’s what has been bought by our families along with our grocery shopping at the supermarket and never paid much attention to it.. so long as it smelt nice. Then we grew up and bought delish smelling fancy shower foams and gels, without realizing what was in the pretty bottle.

Now, with good quality handmade soaps that are free of all harmful chemicals.. there is no reason to continue starving your skin of the love it deserves..

Handmade Soaps vs Commercial Soaps

When I first started experimenting with hand crafted natural soap, I used to wonder how different handmade soap were from commercial soap. Afterall, commercial soaps are much cheaper, most times fancifully packaged and come in a wide range of fragrances, all promising you clean and soft supple skin. BUT… more often than not, the results were quite the opposite. But not many care much… which is odd cos the skin is afterall our largest organ. Many gals pay a lot of attention to skincare and makeup but all of this largely refers to just the face. What about the rest of your body then?

Well, after much research and comparison, I realized why commercial soaps left my skin rather dry and irritated sometimes… and the fragrances hardly last once you step out of the shower. Soap in its most basic state is a result of a chemical reaction between fatty acids and alkali, and usually use a synthetic detergent such as sodium lauryl sulfate.. The many chemicals that are used in the soap making process of commercial soaps are what leave your skin feeling tight and rip you off natural moisture that keep your skin soft and healthy.

Commercial soaps are also manufactured in huge batches in a mechanized process where the naturally produced glycerin is removed and purified to be sold separately. Then, fillers and synthetic detergents are added. These synthetic detergents are what produce all the foamy lather you get from commercial soaps.  Also, the strong fragrances from commercial soaps are often perfumes that will eventually be harmful to the skin.

So how are handmade soaps any different?

For one, quite the opposite to commercial soaps, handmade soaps are created using natural oils such as almond oil, coconut oil and jojoba oil to give your skin the required nourishment. No perfumes are used in handmade soaps. Like in SOUL, all our soaps are made using high grade essential oils which leave you smelling great even long after you’ve come out of your bath, along with all the unique benefits each essential oil provides. These essential oils are also 100% skin-friendly.

Handmade soaps are made in small batches.. each with personal attention. Naturally produced glycerin is also retained in the soap. NO fillers and detergents are ever added in our natural handcrafted soaps so there are no worries about any unnatural products that could harm your skin. Like in SOUL, soaps are made from scratch including manufacture, scenting, curing, cutting, trimming and packaging…

Every day, people take baths or showers lathering up with commercial “soap.”  Keep in mind, our skin is the body's largest organ and like a sponge, absorbs chemicals.  In fact, today many medicines are now given in "patch" form to be absorbed through the skin…. Be more mindful of what your body absorbs… and treat your lovely skin to a bar of SOUL…

It has been a couple of months since I last posted here and many have been enquiring about the status of the soaps. I got reeeaaaallyyy busy this year and haven’t been able to spend some good time creating soaps u will love. A new job anda whole string of events I had to be a part of got the better of my schedule. Well, things are more under control now and I have some soaps underway.

It was saddening that I wasn’t able to let all you lovelies experience my soaps just yet.. but I’m well on the road to making that happen! Yay!

I have some really awesome scents and bath goodness coming your way….. and all of it should be up for you by end May.

Ok I shall curb my enthusiasm and not divulge too much of information and spoil the surprises that await!!!
